General Tips

Hong Kong is a former British colony, how different could its pharmacy legislation be from that of the UK system, or any other part of the world?

You're a pharmacist. Therefore you're an intelligent, qualified professional. There's no reason why you can't pass the exam, providing you revise properly.

The letter from the HK Pharmacy Board lists all the topics that you should prepare yourself for.

Print out the Ordinances. Read them.

The ordinances are written in old legal English, which might be one of the bigger hurdles for you to overcome. BUT... once you get past this you will see that much of it is similar to the legislation in your country. There are dangerous drugs, there are drugs which can be sold in the supermarket, there are prescriptions which need to be written, they need to say this etc. etc. yadda yadda same same...

Learn the material by comparing it to the legislation you already know. Then all you need to remember are the bits which are different.

I personally think you should start studying at least 3 months beforehand, unless you know someone who has passed and who can help you. The high failure rate of the exam is more to do with lack of preparation rather than the paper being particularly difficult.

Get past papers from the Pharmacy Board, and do them. Don't be expecting me or any random blogger to get them for you for free. Yes they will charge you, but the fees are low and well worth it. They speak English, they will have the latest papers, and are used to being contacted from abroad.

Look around this website, and all the other websites which go on about this exam. You're lucky, when I did it none of these websites were available. Now there's like three, and that's not including all the Facebook groups. Take advantage of it. Thank me by recommending my site to others.

You can do it! Let's start seeing that pass rate go up!

Good Luck
